People are often so paranoid about losing or ruining their jewelry, they only wear it once a year or for special occasions. They store them in velvet lined boxes with big soft pillows. And then they leave it on top of there dresser. Why would you go through all that to make sure it doesn’t get broken or scratched and then leave it out. You must lock it in a safe. There are dozens of safes for sale ranging in price and quality but no matter which one you purchase it’s better than leaving your jewelry unprotected.
